why in the world would you come to the gym to piddle around? i can’t STAND when i’m 20 minutes in to my 30 minute cardio session and a girl comes on the elliptical for 10 minutes tops, without breaking a sweat, then gets off. or worse, when girls come up to the weight machines, do 5 moves, then move on. really? you think that’s doing anything for your body?
now, i’m not saying every person has to be sprinting and killing themselves for hours, but at LEAST try hard! i hate to see people wasting their time.
It isn’t your place to judge another person’s effort or decide whether they’re wasting their own time.
Maybe it’s a big deal for them to be at the gym at all. Maybe those 10 minutes are all they could manage. Maybe that’s 10 minutes of exercise that they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. Maybe even a short workout like that leaves them in pain, tired, mentally upset or even just plain satisfied.
If they’re not hurting anyone, then they have the right to exercise however they want without being criticized. If they’re most comfortable that way, then they certainly are not wasting their time.
Or maybe the person is recovering from an injury and can only do a few reps of an exercise as directed by a PT. Or maybe they’re recovering from an illness or eating disorder and can’t be running for as long as you.
